Jason was a researcher for ten years and DARPA program manager before founding Siege Technologies. His areas of expertise include vulnerability research, software protection, wireless and military systems, and quantification of cybersecurity.
Predicting cyber attacks — and trusting those predictions — is cybersecurity's next frontier, not just for enterprises but also for the military. Jason Syversen, who has led cyber R&D for groups like DARPA, will discuss an approach to evaluating the effectiveness of offensive cyber tools, the defenses that stand against them, and how to handle the unknowns. His talk will describe prior research as well as an approach to measuring real cyber capabilities. It will conclude by demonstrating a planned attack, showing how outcomes are predicted and can be optimized, and discussing implications for defenders.
